The Unwanted Parcel

Image
It was a snowy Saturday morning in the chilly cold month of December somewhere in Dehradun, which was about 241.4 km from Delhi, capital of India. I came here all the way from Lalitpur, Nepal with my parents to travel around Dehradun, a popular tourist destination of India. We also had a plan to visit a Medical College named Dehradun College of Medical Sciences, a renowned college of India, for me to study MBBS in it the following year as I was studying in grade 12 that year. We had rented a small house that belonged to some local rich man. The house was a kilometer away from the college hostel, and we stayed there as we could not find any suitable lodges in the town and those available were quite uncomfortable and dirty. It had been 3 days since we got here. My mother had just ended a phone call with my maternal grandparents, who were in Nepal. They were quite upset that they could not come along with us as the winter in Dehradun was quite unbearable and they w...

Rise and Fall of Stock Market: Rumors Only?

Today I thought of writing on a prominent topic that is always talked about,  Nepal's Stock Market . Stock Market is a place where the public listed companies are traded. It is a public venue where individuals or group of people buy and share the shares of the public listed companies that have issued shares. The price of each shares of companies rise and fall based on their demand and the traded price. Stock Exchange can be future savings, investments for greater returns as well as job for some.  The companies that cross a capital or are just established issue Initial Public Offering(IPO) which are simply the small shares of that company. These IPOs usually cost 100 NRs., but some might issue for 10 NRs. each. The interested individuals apply for different number of shares. However the shares offered by the company remains constant due to which we often encounter online news that the IPO has been applied 3, 4,5,6... times more than it was decided to be issued.  Then...

Literature

Literature are the creations that are written and published for people to read and enjoy it. Literature are the expressions and feelings of a creator that are written straight from one’s mind or heart. It is something that cannot be bounded by any rules, limits and boundaries. There are many forms of literature such as story, poem, essay, drama etc. The four known genres of literature are poetry, drama, fiction and nonfiction. Each genre of literature is as beautiful and wholesome as the other.   Millions of literary works have already been published till date in hundreds of languages. Both the literary works written in a language and its translated versions reflect the beauty of literature that are captured in it and unveil only once it is read and understood. Literature cannot be described within a size limit. It could be as short and sweet as a ‘Haiku’ in a leaflet and as long as the epic “Shakuntal” by Laxmi Prasad Devkota. The short poems about a beautiful evening is ...

Post Class Reflection: Week 8

Today, on 2 nd September, 2020, we attended one more English Class. I took today’s class with same joy and excitement like the previous classes. There were 2 very interesting presentations lined up for today which made us happier. All of us were eager to begin today’s class and so were the presenters to present their presentations.   The class began with two of my friends presenting on a short story named “Mr. Know All” written by William Somerset Maugham. This was a very interesting story that was presented in an even more fascinating technique. This story deals with the theme of “ Never judge a book by its cover” , with the mentality of people who still carry thoughts of racism. The story tells us that the outer appearance could never unveil the inner reality. The various aspects of this story were presented by the presenters such as the racism that had been shown within the story and various other angles of the story that made it even clearer.     After this, ...

Corona Virus: The 2020 Threat

The year 2020 has not been kind to us, human beings from the very beginning. We saw and heard of many natural disasters, diseases and deaths this year. However the pandemic caused by the Corona virus tops the list of all the disasters as it had caused the highest number of deaths and illness all over the world. The disease caused by this virus is called COVID-19. These two words “Corona” and “COVID” has become most spoken and most heard word in every household. The number of infected patients are rising daily and death tolls have been increasing. The entire world is suffering from it. On one hand the virus is spreading widely all over the world. Even after a long lockdown, the condition wasn’t stable due to which restrictions have been imposed all over the country. The number of patients are increasing daily. While on the other hand, the global economy is lowering. Thousands of people have lost their jobs. Many people are facing economic crisis. The schools,...

Post Class Reflection: Week 7

Today we attended one more English class taught by Eak sir, so I thought to write a Post Class Reflection on today’s class. Today’s class was mostly about Technical Communication where we learnt about various types of the reports. Then we went through the literature portion and saw presentations of an essay. First of all, one of our friend presented on “Travel Report” that has to be written like memo. This travel report had to be written after visiting a place and had to include all the details of the journey, destination and the various arrangements that had been arranged throughout the journey. This type of report could include specific tasks that had been done or observed at the destination and its techniques as well as the tools and the material used. Then few questions were asked on the topic and the presentation ended. Then the other friends presented on “Recommendation Report and Feasibility Report”.  A  recommendation report is usual...

TIME

Time is a dimension which passes at a constant rate and progresses with the sequence of events that are taking place around us. Time is a valuable wealth that never comes back once it passes. It is also a measure of how fast or slow the things are happening. It passes at its own rate to never return back, which is why an English proverb becomes true, “Time and Tide waits no Man”, which we hear time and again in numerous articles, speeches and blogs. This simply means that the moment that has just passed never comes back and the moment that we are living or spending is also going to pass quietly.   On the other hand, time is also a factor that brings fortune and misfortune in the lives of people. Time is never the same in anyone’s life. Time brings a rainfall of happiness with it and takes it away along with it like wind. Time can be a teacher as well. Each passing moment might not be teaching something. But most valuable lessons of life, that cannot be taught by anyone in th...
