Post Class Reflection: Week 6

“Knowledge is a treasure that follows its owner everywhere.” So with this positive note, I would like to begin post class reflection of today’s English class, which was as spell binding as the previous classes. One and half hours of learning with equally interesting interactions and discussions with Eak sir was all I needed to write this blog. Today we mainly discussed on Technical Communications part, where we learnt how to write “Incident Reports” and “Lab Reports”.

Firstly few of my friends presented on “Incident Reports”. It was a type of report which was written by the observer of some kind of incident especially damage of physical property or some kind of mishap. These kinds of reports had to answer all types of Wh-questions i.e. what, where, when, etc. regarding that incident such as place, time, cause, effect and damage caused. A reader of the incident report had to understand the entire scenario of the incident and its effects. It had to be completely different from the Investigation report. It was written in order to aware the public about that particular incident. Although it was a completely new topic for all of us, but the concepts were pretty clear and our teacher had added some key points that made the entire presentation completely clear.

After a few minutes of the Question-Answer session, the second set of presenters were ready with their presentation on “Lab Reports”. The presenters began explaining about the various components of the report and slowly concluded their slides. This kind of report was used to provide information about a particular experiment, and had to be written whether the experiment had been successful or not. The reports of the ones that provided genuine results could be used to learn about procedures where as the ones with faulty results could be used to learn from the mistakes. The lab report had to be written taking care of the standard procedures and techniques. After this, Eak sir added few more important tips to be added on this report and few things that needed to be removed from the presentation.

After the second presentations, some of my friends recited their wonderful poems, where two of them were visual poems written in English where as two were Nepali poems. All the four poems imparted deep message that had moved me. After this, our English class ended.
