Post Class Reflection (Week 5, Friday)
Today I attended one more important yet interesting class of English taught by Eak sir. Today was an important class for me because I had to deliver my presentation today along with my teammate. This was an opportunity for me to deliver a presentation in the online medium. So my heart was filled with both excitement and fear. Our physical classes could not take place since the beginning of this semester due to the Corona Virus, so we had switched to the virtual class which was as effective and efficient as the Normal Classes.
We were assigned to
present on the poem “Lunatic”, which was a translated version of the Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad Devkota’s Nepali
Poem “Pagal”. Although the poem had
been originally been written in Nepali language but its essence had not been
lost in this foreign language. As interesting is the title, so was the poem,
when I first read it few days ago. In the first few stanzas, the poet considers
himself as an insane person, who can do so many things that many of us cannot.
The poet tries to enjoy the pain. However towards the ending of the poem, the
poet tries to convey to the readers that the actual insane are those who are
not like him. In this poem, Devkota writes out his anger in form of those
fierce words, where each words reflects the injustice that the poet had seen or
had been subjected to. The poem was summarized by my teammate and I presented
the arguments based on the Toulmin’s Model. It was a really interesting and
interactive class which was enjoyed by each one of us. Even our teacher shared
few thoughts and facts which were closely related to the subject that had been
talked about in the poem, which we got to learn that day.
Thus, we spent an hour
learning about so many new and important things in today’s English class which
made my day quite successful as I had gained so many knowledge within the first
few hours of my day.
