Struggling with Summer

The temperature has touched 26 °C today and with this my tussle with the hottest time of the year has begun. Nepal experiences summer from May to August every year and on average throughout the day, temperature rises to 25°C and the humidity ranges from 65% to 80% in Kathmandu, where I live. This kind of high humidity adds up even more hotness. Every year the summer season begins with few bright days, but most of the days in this season are rather dark, dull and cloudy. I blindly believe that the nature is perfect but still I complain about the summer season throughout it. So today I decided to prove how summer is so much a struggle.   Like everyone else I believe that the seasonal change brought by the nature must be welcomed with open arms. Without the season change, we won’t be able to eat these variety of fruits and vegetables which grow only in one specific season. And I am also not unknown to the fact that our daily diet rice is planted as wheat during this rainy season, ...

Post Class Reflection (Week 4)

Today, we got to attend our Technical Communication class after a few days gap with a heart full of excitement and extremely hopeful eyes expecting to learn something new. But before seeing the presentations, today we learnt to write acrostic poems, a part of literary writings where certain letters of a word spell out a word, sentence or meaning. I would definitely share mine at last. Then our teacher showed us a video on how the Internet works. In the previous weeks, we used to play quiz but this time it was something new and equally educative. Our classes have been virtual since the beginning as a part of new normal but still it is as effective as the regular classes.  First of all,  a group of my friends gave presentation on “Scientific Journal Articles”. This can be really important for scientists and researchers as some studies and findings might not be completed or discovered within their lifespan. So they can publish their studies so that others can ...

Post Class Reflection (Week 3, Friday)

We began today’s English class with a Quiz on an online platform. The quiz was related to English language especially the grammar part. It was really helpful to learn something new in this fun manner. I completed my quiz and our teacher Eak sir secured first position among all of us. Then today’s presentations began. Today we got to learn about Concept papers and Technical Papers. First of all, the presentation on Concept papers begun that were presented by a group of my class mates. Concept paper is a document that is written before performing any research or doing any projects and is all about how is it important, why are we doing it and how do we plan to achieve our goals. It includes title page, statement of problem, preliminary literature review, goal statement, research question, methodology, timeline and references. The concept paper basically delivers the necessity of any research or project to its readers. This type of papers can really be important when we need to kno...

Online Classes and Me (Week 3)

This would be the first time in our lives that we are attending classes without actually going to the class. I just get into my study room, lock myself, turn on the laptop and attend lectures. This is what the new normal looks like. However I feel safer this way to attend classes without being in a constant fear of Corona Virus. On the other hand we do not have any other option of continuing our studies by other ways. Plus it is equally as effective as the normal classes, and on top of that one can revise lessons using lecture videos. As all the students around the globe are undergoing this situation, I thought to share my experiences of this online classes.                                       Our online classes started just few weeks ago and we got to start our Second semester officially. Although ...

Post Class Reflection: Proposal Writing (Week 3)

I wanted to share a reflection post our Technical Communication class today, as I thought to keep a track of my Technical Communication learning on a weekly basis. Plus it would be quite fascinating to see these at the end of the semester as a revision. Today few of my friends presented on "Project Proposal Writing", which does seem to have a lot importance throughout our studies and career as we have recently dealt with writing one. So I am writing this blog to manifest that Project Proposal can be really important for all of us.   Project proposal is a detailed document about a project that has to be explained to the outside contributors in order to get their approval for the project which can be mainly for their financial support or can be for academic purpose. This proposal must clearly describe about the results of the project i.e. expected outcomes and all the objective of the project as well as methods, procedures and the essential components required for it. Then ...

Internet: Use or Misuse? (Week 2)

Internet is the networks of network where users can get access to a wide array of resources by requesting it from the server computers. It is a group of interconnected computers where computers act as server or client, and client computers request resources to the server computers. In the days of pandemic, the Internet has really become a life saver for us students as we can study our regular courses by staying at our homes being completely safe. So I think that Internet is also one of the necessities of our life. It has become an indivisible aspect of our life, without which the life becomes more difficult. But I also truly believe that some users in the Internet are over-exploiting it by wasting their precious hours starring at the digital screen seeing just anything.   Internet has really become an aspect of our life because life without it seems to be quite harsh in today’s day. According to a recent survey, 59% of the global population have access to the Internet, w...

Post Class Reflection: Toulmin’s Model Synopsis (Week 2)

Today, I wanted to share a Post Class Reflection of my ENGT(Communication Skills English) class that I had recently attended through online meeting with my teacher along with my friends. Post Class Reflection is a writing that explains what difference a recently attended lecture or meeting has made to our understanding of a particular topic. Today we discussed about the Toulmin’s Model that is used for argumentative essays, which mainly focuses on proving a point by exploring its every aspects and drawing a conclusion. The presentation delivered by my friends and the teacher’s explanation made it pretty clear.   We all know that the Toulmin’s model has 6 parts namely, Claim , Grounds , Warrant , Backing Qualifier and Rebuttal . A point is manifested using these 6 parts in an elegant method. Firstly a Claim is made, which is basically the principle point or idea that one is trying to prove. Next is Grounds that is the collection of evidences as well as related data t...

Why to start Blogging? (Week 1)

Blogging can be described as skills developed to write and manage a blog as well as a process of expressing ideas and pouring thoughts about any topic in order to provide a general information about it to the readers and this type of writing is called a blog. Blogging had become popular since the mid-2000s, when millions of people began blogging. This topic was discussed in today’s Technical Communication class. And even I personally think that blogging would be really interesting and beneficial for all of us. We all know that Blogging has been a popular way of publishing or showcasing our writings to people all over the Internet and can also be a way of earning money if our creativity is admirable. It is a large platform to express the ideas and passions by an individual and also an opportunity to polish the writing skills as it may be read by many other bloggers. Basically, blogging is a skill of maintaining absorbing blogs that attract lots of readers, and also urge the readers ...
